Amsterdam based Pianoduo Amacord are pianist couple Ivana Alkovic and Maarten den Hengst. They met in Vienna during their post-graduate studies at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst. Both musicians had already won acclaim on the international stages before they started their duo. Amacord can be frequently heard on radio and television in The Netherlands and abroad. They performed throughout Europe, Asia and the US at renowned venues such as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, The Wolvendaal Church - Sri Lanka and Auberrive - France to name a few.
Next to performing the classical repertoire the duo enjoys working with contemporary composers -expanding the repertoire for piano 4 hands. Genevieve Murphy, Karl Fiorini, Marlijn Helder, Diego Soifer, Dominy Clements and Christopher Devine wrote new pieces for the duo.
Since 2019, Pianoduo Amacord has been the artistic director of the Nieuwe Kerk Concerts series in Haarlem. Amacord organizes 7 concerts per season with passionate musicians from the Netherlands and abroad in all possible line-ups. In addition to renowned professionals, they also offer a platform to young talents.
In January 2020, the duo's debut album “Magical Garden” was released by ZIP records with works by Debussy, Bizet and Ravel. The CD was presented in Concertgebouw Amsterdam. In march 2024 their second album “Vienna, Theme & Variations" was released with pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms and Herzogenberg.
Both albums have been very well received by the national and international press, and can be heard regularly on the radio and Spotify.

“The two musicians play with engaging freshness, rich in nuances and with much love for small, picturesque details. These are interpretations that show a mature musicality and great intensity, full of excitement and imagination captivating the listener from the first to the last note.''
